NACC Reports – Day One – The Beginning

Posted by The Masked Ameoba on August 18, 2008

So this week is going to be a little busy for wowtcgscrub.com.  We had a helluva weekend at Gen Con, and we have a lot to talk about.  Seeing as I am still exhausted from the whole weekend of playing, driving, driving some more, playing, driving, eating, playing, and driving I am going to give a general overview of what we plan to have up this week, and do some general reporting.

First and foremost I want to thank UDE and Pastimes again, they turned what could have been a shit-tastic weekend into one that was pretty damn good overall.

This week we will have the usual Toolbox of Terror on Tuesday, Jeff should be talking about his Gen Con adventures. On Wednesday I will be writing up my report about our Thursday Night Draft, this should have a little more info than Glenn put up in his article, thanks again Glenn!.  Thursday will be my report on my performance at the NACC’s, or lack thereof.  Friday will be my usual Fun Deck Friday.  Hopefully some of the other writers will also be chiming in with reports, I know I would love to read em too.  So now, my props and slops for the weekend.

Props

  • Everyone who came out to the free draft on Thursday.
  • Cornelious for the sweet hats.
  • Matt Loomis, Todd Derbyshire, and James Rex for writers trying to prove that wowtcgscrub.com may not be all about scrubbing out of tournaments.
  • Jeff for making sure our T-Shirts were here on time and awesome.
  • UDE for the loot cards to give away at our draft.
  • Ryan, Ian and Mike for also being really cool on Thursday Night getting us all set up.
  • UDE for the free drinks during the NACC.
  • Chessex for some bad ass dice to give away.
  • P.F. Chang’s for some great food.
  • Doing 109+ damage to an opponent to win the game, even though I lost the match.
  • Free badge to Gen Con, hooray for saving money!
  • Playmat for NACC’s, pretty damn sweet really.
  • The featured match area was pretty damn great too.
  • Finally meeting in person some of the wowtcgscrub writers and readers.

Slops

  • Gen Con for charging 6 bucks for shitty ass pizza.  And for even calling that slice of ridiculous cardboard pizza.
  • Random Chance for allowing me to draw one or no quest GAMES, not opening hands, entire GAMES.
  • Me for not dropping after my 4th loss just to give my last dice away.
  • Me for not playing a deck I enjoy and instead playing a deck I think will do well.
  • Hammer of Justice
  • Acid reflux in infants.

How my predictions turned out.

The Meta Predictions

  • 20% Druid – real 25%
  • 15 % Shaman -  real 12%
  • 13 % Mage – real 16%
  • 10% Pally – real 13 %
  • 10 % Warrior – real 11%
  • 10% Priest – real 12%
  • 10% Rogue – 3%
  • 10 % Warlock – 6%
  • 2 % Hunter – <1%
  • Demon (I forgot em!) – real 2%

I wasn’t too far off on the numbers here.  A little more druid than I thought, but I was close on most of em.  Of course rogue under performed as usual!

Top 9 Predictions

  • 2 Kilzin – not a single one?  Really?
  • 1 Desecrator – Yay, got that one right!
  • 1 Aleyah – There were 2, but hey, at least one.
  • 1 Water Elemental – Got another one
  • 1 Bloodtusk discard – Nope, all wrong
  • 1 Warlock control – Always bet on Markoff
  • 1 Halavar – Fale

Ok, well I got 1/2 of em right!

See ya later in the week!

Is there a list of the names of the Wowtcgscrub writers? I like this site and want to know if I played any of them…

The About the Author’s tab above has the listing/bio’s of all of our writers.

    Enjoy!

  3. It really was a great time; the 9pm event on Thursday was tons of fun with some really great players.

Glad you liked the hats, and in the future, I’d love to work with you guys to do some promo products to give away to fans of the site… maybe some clever hats, or messenger bags (perfect for lugging deckboxes, etc) or such…
